Stylish by Nature

Dressing sustainably is about making style choices that benefit both you and the environment in the long run! We’ve partnered with Samir Randera-Rees, Programme Manager for the Water Source Areas Programme at the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) and avid photographer, to show you a few surefire ways that ensure sustainability for both your wardrobe and the environment.

1. Buy the best quality:

It can be tempting to skimp on style, but spending a little more now will benefit both you and the environment in the long run! A single good quality shirt will easily outlast 4 cheaper quality shirts, and you will look and feel better wearing it. As a rule of thumb, aim for items made from high quality fabrics  from reputable manufacturers. Our brushed cotton twill shirts are made from a high quality fabric that is woven in Japan.

2. There’s value in versatility:

Get the most wear out of your favourite items with some simple style edits. We’ve taken a page out of our winter style guide by dressing Samir in layers. On chilly days, you can wear a shirt on its own underneath a winter coat, or by itself (sans coat) layered on top of your favorite t-shirt when it gets warm outside. Versatile wardrobe staples can be worn year round !

3. Stick to what works:

Finally found the perfect item? Create some variety by buying it in in different colours. Here, Samir wears our brushed twill winter shirt in brown and also in blue (it is also available in Green)

ON ODRIN FAVOURITES

All the items I’ve worn from Odrin fit perfectly and the fabrics are of really beautiful quality. The aesthetic has eye-catching elements that appeal to my personal style. I really love my Odrin coat – it’s the perfect fit and looks great. I plan to keep this one for a long time.

ON LIVING HIS PURPOSE

I always thought of the environment as more of a hobby, but as I started to study this topic more in university, I realized this was more than just a hobby; it’s a calling and a passion. And if people like myself who are passionate about this topic don’t act on it to make a difference, the world will continue to be in a terrible state without people fighting to protect it. I love the feeling that I’m doing something truly worthwhile.

ON THE POWER OF ‘YES’

The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be more inclined to say yes than no. Stay open to new opportunities and ideas, and don’t let your fears and your comfort zone hold you back. It’s when you leave your comfort zone that you have the best experiences.
